Whom would Bollywood cast in a desi remake as Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and sexy Sam? Desi Eye finds out as the characters burst out of the big screen worldwide

Sex is in the air. We are referring to the buzz that the characters of the hit series Sex And The City are generating in their big screen debut worldwide in Sex And The City: The Movie. So, as Sarah Jessica Parker takes her column and friends to the big screen as the SEX in Tinsel City sexy and stylish Carrie Bradshaw, viewers can’t wait to get their dose of the ‘try-sexual’ Samantha played by Kim Cattrall or the fiery lawyer Miranda Hobbes played by Cynthia Nixon. And not to forget the sweet Charlotte played by Kristin Davis with her ever-long lasting faith in emotional love as opposed to lust. But even in their debuts on Indian screens, we asked desi filmmakers who would they have cast as the four protagonists if the series were to be made into a film in Bollywood. And here’s what they had to say: While Priyanka’s sexy and smart image helped her emerge as the hot fave in Carrie’s role, Bipasha got as many votes and more to play the hot and sexy Samantha. Katrina, Kangana, Sushmita and Vidya Balan, vied for the characters of the career oriented Miranda and the ‘good-girl waiting for eternal love’ Charlotte.

Carrie: Priyanka Chopra She’s sexy, smart and stylish, comes across as a very confident young lady, ready to handle life as it comes. Samantha: Bipasha Basu Bipasha’s smouldering hot looks make her just perfect to play Samantha. Very confident and comfortable about her sexuality. Miranda: Kangana Ranaut She’s a go-getter, extremely focussed about what she wants. Although her face is very angelic, she can pack in a punch in any role.

Charlotte: Mugdha Godse She comes across as a true blue romantic and can carry off the girl-next-door waiting for Mr Right image very convincingly.

Carrie: Priyanka Chopra Very confident and glamourous, a woman of today who knows what she wants, yet is a little confused and is living it up.

Samantha: Bipasha Basu Oh, she’s hot and sexy. Definitely, she fits in as Samantha.

Miranda: Sushmita Sen An outright go-getter, she knows what she wants and goes for it.

Charlotte: Konkona Sen She can easily carry of the conservative girl who believes in love and is in search for her knight in shining armour.

For all those part of the Saif-Kareena hate club, here’s a reason to celebrate. Barely few months ago, the two made a dramatic appearance at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai and sparked off media frenzy. But it seems like the cracks in their relationship are now becoming visible. If my friends are to be believed, Kareena is beginning to feel stifl ed in the relationship. It seems that Bebo’s mum is very worried about her daughter because ’she is always shadowed by Saif these days’.

Now, Saif we all know has been quite loud and very, very public about his relationship. He also doesn’t appreciate Kareena messaging Shahid once in a while.

“Bebo is a free spirited woman. She likes to have her space and does not appreciate some of the things Saif does. So very obviously, she has begun to feel claustrophobic,” says my friend.Saif in the meanwhile has managed inch his way into Kapoor family. Karisma celebrated her daughter, Samaira birthday recently and the entire Kapoor clan was present. Sure enough Saif was there too, as Bebo’s arm candy and stuck by her through the evening, simply refusing to let go of her.

The Cold War Continues

While Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have never openly admitted their rivalry, a recent incident adds to the speculation of the on-going cold war between the two actors. Going by what happened one evening, the cold war between the two is far from over.

While Abhishek and Aishwarya were present at the party hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri and Kajal Anand at Juhu for Karan Johar’s 36th birthday, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan decided to stay away from the celebrations. Incidentally, just a few hours before Karan’s party started, AB and Jaya were with beta Abhishek and bahu Aishwarya at Ashutosh Gowariker’s party. On Saturday, Ashutosh threw a party to celebrate Jodhaa Akbar completing 100 days. Apart from the Bachchan family, the Roshans (Rakesh, Hrithik, Sussane), Kunal Kohli, Madhur Bhandarkar (with wife Renu), Ram Mirchandani, Ronnie Screwvala, and Vipul Shah and others were present at Ashutosh’s party. Says a source, “One really doesn’t know why Amitabh and Jaya did not accompany Abhishek and Aishwarya to Karan’s birthday party. It is not known if they were invited or not.”

“Most guests at Karan’s party entered around 1.30 am. Apart from Abhishek and Aishwarya, the guests at Karan’s party included Arjun Rampal, Harman Baweja, Priyanka Chopra, Chunkey Pandey (with wife Bhavna Pandey), Maheep Kapoor, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Farhan Akhtar and others. Most of them stayed till the early hours of the morning,” our source adds. Despite us sending repeated text messages, Big B remained silent on why he chose to skip SRK’s party.

This month’s best son crown goes to Fardeen Khan, who we hear has taken a short break from his fi lmi career in order to be with his dad, day and night. From what we hear, he is nursing and personally supervising the speedy recovery of his dad Feroz Khan who has been unwell for quite sometime now. A huge round of applause for the son and here’s wishing a speedy recovery for the Sr Khan!
